Social dances are most common in rural areas where people enjoy living together in clusters. You shouldn’t show off or perform dips, drops, or aerials; also, avoid any tricks that get you rejected during a social dance. Some social dance is intended to get the best dancer who may represent others in a bigger contest. Putting up the best of your performance during such a dance can allow you to be selected among the few. It is advisable to get others to follow your dance steps, especially when they are not used to it or may not be interested to learn it.

There are major types of social dance common in most places, including Foxtrot, which is the most progressive dance that even children can participate in. Other types include East Coast Swing, Cha-Cha common in Cuba with a great rhythm attached to it. Salsa is another type of social dance with its origin from Cuban, and this is a common style with most youths and a few age people. Like every other artistic dance, social dance has its unique etiquette, which must be adhered to. These are rules which govern the behavior of participants to ensure they follow the basic conventional rule. This involves their dressing, physical appearance, attitude while on stage. These can determine whether they will be selected for the next round or not based on their current performance.
